Simon Scarrow om serien
It’s a huge pleasure for me to have my series of books about the Roman empire translated into Swedish. One of the delights of writing books is sharing my enthusiasm for the ancient world with readers in other countries. Although many Swedes have a fine grasp of English (a facility I sadly cannot reciprocate), it is great to know that you can now read my books in your own tongue, thanks to the good services of Historiska Media.
I am very lucky to be writing in the age of the internet. One reader’s story from the time of my first novel – Under the Eagle (Legionären) – illustrates this very well indeed. Steve is an Australian who lives in the outback. His favourite dog had been poisoned and Steve had to sit with it through the night. His father had ordered my novel from Amazon in the UK and had enjoyed it enough to give it to his son to read while he sat with his dog. The story proved to be so gripping that Steve had finished it by dawn and emailed me to let me know first thing in the morning. All this within seven days of its publication, despite being on opposite sides of the planet! Since then, I have made contact with hundreds of readers around the world, from a rescue swimmer in Alaska to the King of Jordan, and now I am looking forward to encountering Swedish readers in cyberspace. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
